All the four candidates from Curchorem constituency assured to obey the decision of the locals while undertaking any project in Curchorem.
JCI Curchorem on Wednesday evening held a debate 'Candidates Platform' between four candidates who are contesting the assembly poll from Curchorem constituency.
AAP candidate, James Fernandes said: “People say some development has taken place in Curchorem, but what about the mining bypass, security of common man and dust pollution in Curchorem? Some projects like the mega solid waste treatment plant, etc, are opposed by the locals in Curchorem, while health facilities are in a pathetic condition.”
Congress candidate, Rosario Fernandes said he was involved in social work. “Later, I understood that social service is possible at a higher level and I entered politics. Mining corridor has not been completed, while hill cutting is in progress. We need a native politician from Curchorem.”
BJP candidate, Nilesh Cabral said the Goa State Environment Clearance Authority is an autonomous body which gives clearances to any project. “Some people are misleading the locals of Curchorem.”
Shyam Satardekar, MGP candidate, said: “When I was the MLA, about 80 youth were employed in GTDC.”
Speaking on SWTP, he said nobody has right to bring projects against the wishes of people.
When asked why he didn't contest on Congress this time, Satardekar said he was unhappy with the attitude of senior leaders and there were only tall assurances given to him.
