Curchorem man dies in accident
CURCHOREM: A 71-year-old scooterist from Shirfond-Curchorem died in a road accident near Shivaji Chowk junction at Morailem-Curchorem on Monday, involving a truck.
According to sources from Curchorem Police, Ambadathvallupil Krishnan Gopi was proceeding on his scooter (GA-09-F-6776), while the truck (GA-01-U-6753) was on its way from Shivaji Chowk Curchorem to Sanvordem Tisk junction, when the truck dashed against the scooter near Shivaji Chowk at about 12.10 pm.
Sources said the scooter came under the rear wheels of the truck and Gopi was crushed and died on the spot. The truck driver fled from the site of the accident.
Police registered the case under Sections 279, 304-A IPC and Section 134(a)(b) of Motor Vehicle Act and is investigating the case.
