The Curtorim gram sabha on Sunday deliberated on the draft Agriculture policy as the farmers demanded that the agricultural fields should not be converted for any other purpose.
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Caetan Hilario on Sunday, the farmers demanded that the government should extend a helping hand to the farmers towards the construction of bunds for the storage of water to irrigate the fields.
The inputs received from the gram sabha members will be forwarded to the government for incorporation in the draft Agriculture policy.
The meeting also discussed the issue of the location for the MRF facility in the village. Some members pointed out that the panchayat should explore the possibility of setting up the MRF facility at the leprosy hospital land in the village.
The issue of the mobile tower that has come up in the village also saw members calling for an inspection by the village panchayat. The panchayat has maintained that it has sent to the district authorities the representation received from those opposing the tower as well as people supporting the facility.
Gram sabha members also raised the issue of migrants in the village, demanding that the panchayat carry out the tenant verification exercise. After much discussions, it has been decided to hold the tenant verification exercise in three of the panchayat wards with the help of the panchas.
