Farmers who turned up at the panchayats to collect the Kisan credit cards had to return home disappointed since they could not receive their cards on Wednesday on the occasion of the nation-wide Fasal Bima Pathshala programme.
J Santan Rodrigues, who was amongst the farmers who went to the Curtorim panchayat ghar to collect their Kisan cards found to their shock and surprise that the panchayat secretary, who is holding additional charge of Loutolim, was not in Curtorim on Wednesday.
“When I called up the Panchayat secretary, he not only said he is in Loutolim today, but he informed that he has not received any Kisan credit cards for distribution to the farmers,” Santan said.
He added: “Today is the nation-wide Fasal Bima Pathshala wherein farmers were requested to contact their nearest Gram Panchayat or Jan Seva/CSC Centre and directly connect with the Union Agriculture Minister. The ground reality seemed otherwise.”
Santan informed that he and other farmers had gone to the panchayat after receiving a message that one may get the Kisan credit cards immediately contacting the Panchayat secretary if the farmer is a beneficiary under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and are yet to receive Kisan credit card.
