The Tenants Association of Vaingonodde and Ralloi Tollem of Curtorim have objected to the final draft of the Curtorim Bio-diversity Heritage site saying the draft has been prepared without due consultations with the tenants associations.
The Curginim Tenants Association, Curtorim has also lodged their objection to the Goa Bio-diversity Board for undertaking the work of marking of the Survey nos. of the lakes as heritage sites without following due process of law.
In their objections filed before the Curtorim panchayat, the Tenants Association of Vaingonodde & Ralloi Tollem of Curtorim pointed out that they have not been made aware about the implications of declaring the lakes as bio-diversity heritage sites. “Neither us, nor the Comunidade were consulted nor intimated regarding the same. We have many queries on the same, which needs to be addressed. We feel that the above finalisation of BHS is being conducted in a highly suspicious, illegal and arbitrary manner by keeping us in the dark,” stated Chairman Antonio Dias.
He said a perusal of the guidelines mandates the involvement of communities’ institutions in the preparation of the BHS process, which has not been followed. “We strongly object to the said illegal exercise of drafting the Curtorim BHS without taking us into confidence and we demand that the process be kept on hold till all our queries and issues are resolved,” Dias demanded.
He prayed that all the correspondence, between the VP Curtorim and the GSBB, from 2015 till date, along with the relevant documents, final plans, materials, other information and details of the Curtorim BHS, are made available to the associations in hard copies so to facilitate the associations to raise issues and ask questions with the GSBB team when they visit the village to have a detailed discussion on the BHS and answer the queries from the public.
The Curginim Tenants Association pointed out they are totally ignorant about the subject on bio-diversity heritage site and how it would prove to be beneficial for the village and for its residents including farmers.
