Curtorim VP pegs budget for FY18-19 at whopping ` 1.31 cr

The Curtorim village gram sabha on Sunday gave its nod for the GSIDC’s proposal to construct a road over bridge, connecting Curtorim to Sao Jose de Areal, even as members demanded that the Panchayat seek additional details from the Corporation concerning the project.
 The meeting also approved the budget estimates for the financial year pegged at a whopping Rs 1.31 crore.
 The gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Rupesh Naik deliberated on the GSIDC proposal to build a bridge, linking the village to Areal and resolved to issue NOC for the bridge on the Curtorim side. Gram sabha members including J Santan Rodrigues, however, sought details regarding the bridge, including the exaction location of the proposed bridge and its width, and to find out whether the bridge is part of the any proposal to building the state highway via these villages.  The panchayat also made a provision of Rs five lakh to tackle solid waste management in the village. 
Gram sabha members led by Santan Rodrigues demanded to know about the revision of taxes, saying the panchayat is mandated under the Act to revise the taxes periodically, 
Some members also demanded to know the status the position of migrants staying in the village.
 The presence of kiosks in the market also came up for discussion with members demanding that the gaddas must be taken out from the market after the prescribed hours. The discharge of waste into the nullah passing by the market also figured in the debate. Sarpanch Rupesh assured to ask the health authorities to carry out an inspection.
