Cyber Crime Cell busts Rs 11.36 lakh online fraud, arrests one

Goa Cyber Crime Cell busted a massive cyber fraud to the tune of Rs 11.36 lakh and has arrested a Mumbai-based person.

The operation was carried out on the basis of a complaint received about an online fraud under the pretext of giving interest-free loan of Rs 20 lakh.

Thereafter, citing various hidden costs such as service charges, processing fee and tax deductions, the accused induced the complainant to transfer Rs 11.36 lakh.

A similar case was also registered in Maharashtra and in coordination with Maharashtra Police, accused Ali alias Muhammad Mumtaz from Bhandup, Mumbai was identified and arrested.

Further proceedings and investigation is on.
