Dabolim airport is likely to enhance surveillance for Covid-19 protocols and even explore possibility of taking punitive action against those violating the protocols.
In an advisory circular issued to all airports in the country on Tuesday, Joint Director General at the Civil Aviation Sunil Kumar stated that during surveillance of some airports, it had come to notice that compliance was not satisfactory.
“All airport operators, therefore, are requested to ensure that instructions on Covid-19 protocols from the standpoint of wearing face masks properly, covering nose and mouth, as well as maintaining social distance norms within the airport premises are followed scrupulously.”
“Accordingly, all Airport operators may enhance surveillance towards this end.”
“The possibility of taking punitive action, such as levy of spot fines in accordance with law, shall also be explored with the local police authorities so as to serve a deterrent for violation of Covid-19 protocol,” stated Kumar.
The advisory circular has been sent to the chairman of Airports Authority of India and airport operators in the country.
