Dalit Samaj confers awards

Minister for Ayush Shripad Naik advocated the need of reading Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s biography to face challenges as also to understand this great personality.

Addressing the gathering at a function organised by Dalit Sanghatana after conferring Dalit Bhushan awards on prominent personalities and Dalit Sakha award on Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Naik claimed Dr Ambedkar’s contribution was for the entire society and not just restricted to the Dalit Samaj. 
Guest of honour, Rajendra Arlekar, lamented the fact that Dr Ambedkar was restricted to be the leader of the Dalit Samaj when his contribution touched all sectors and sections of society.   Earlier, the Dalit Sakha award was conferred on Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, which was accepted in Cabral’s absence by former Ravindra Bhavan chairman, Damodar Naik.

Damu Naik, LIC’s senior divisional manager Barun Kumar Khan, Navnath Khandeparkar and senior advisor of Dalit Sanghatana Gokuldas Shirodkar also spoke on the occasion.

Work on Quepem market complex soon: Kavlekar

Leader of the Opposition and Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar said the much awaited market complex project at Quepem, which was supposed to start in November last year, may start soon.
