After the sewage stink, Madgavkars in particular and visitors to the commercial capital now grapples with another issue “ dust pollution.

Sewage stink had hit the road behind the Margao Municipal building after the sewage manhole spewed sewage mixed with water for days together when the city was lashed by incessant and heavy rains earlier this month. In the bargain, the overflowing sewage manhole has caused damage to the road, with the crucial road stretch dotted with potholes.

The week-long dry spell has thrown up another problem of sorts for the visitors and commuters, the dust pollution kicked up by the damaged road. The damaged road and the loose black metal also pose the risk and danger of road accidents, especially for the two-wheeler riders.

To mitigate the dust pollution and to mitigate the hardships faced by the commuters, the PWD has got the contractor to sweep the damaged road stretch and collect the black metal.

PWD officials pointed out that the since the road stretch has been literally washed away by the rains and sewage overflow, the stretch will be repaired and restored back to its motorable condition.

Sources further informed that the portion of the road in front of the Margao Post office has been left damaged with the loose metal posing risk and dangers for the motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders.
