MARGAO
Around a year ago, Damu and arch rival Vijai Sardesai had descended at the temple around the same time, before wishing Holi by sprinkling gulal. This time round, Damu returned back straight to Gogol where he preferred to play Holi with party workers, who swarmed around his residence.
The changing political equalities unfolding in the State, with arch rival extending support to the BJP to form the BJP-led government has indeed raised one pertinent question within Fatorda and outside “ what role will Damu play in Fatorda politics, having suffered his second successive defeat and with arch rival shaking hands with the State party leadership to form the new government?
Damu told The Goan that while Vijai will look after the development of Fatorda constituency, he would continue his party work in Fatorda and outside, making it amply clear that his door will always remain open for the people and his political work will continue.
“I am happy that the BJP will form the new government headed by Manohar Parrikar. I have no problem if Vijai as part of the BJP government looks after the development. He can take up a number of pending projects in Fatorda, including the KTC bus
stand,” Damu asserted.
He replied in the positive when asked whether the party leadership had kept him in the loop before accepting Vijai Sardesai’s support to form a new government. “Soon after the results were out, I was in Panaji where party senior leaders explained to him the developments taking place in Goa. For me, the party’s interests are paramount,” he said.
Damu further asserted that he is a loyal soldier and not a chameleon like others.
