MARGAO
The gram sabha of Davorlim panchayat on Sunday was informed that the Panchayat would soon set up a market for the local vegetable vendors to sell their produce.
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Saieesh Rajadhyax members demanded actions against illegal constructions.
When gram sabha members raised the issue of illegal constructions, the Sarpanch assured the members that the Panchayat will come down heavily on the illegalities. He said the Panchayat has already initiated action against a road construction in an area earmarked for a playground.
On marketing amenities for the village farmers producing vegetables in the fields round the year, the Sapranch informed that the Panchayat would move the government to earmark the land acquired by the Water Resources department to set up a market for local vegetables.
He clarified that the market will be solely set up for the benefit of the local farmers producing vegetables in the fields.
When the member raised the issue of encroachments and illegal vendors along the main road, the sarpanch said the panchayat has written a letter to the Margao traffic cell as well as the Margao and Maina Curtorim police stations to clear the roadside hawkers causing traffic obstruction.
The Sarpanch informed that the Panchayat has decided to approach the government to set up a Primary Health Centre for the villages of Davorlim and adjoining Rumdamol. “Both these villages presently come under the jurisdiction of the Curtorim Primary Health centre, causing inconvenience to the citizens. We will ask the government to carve out a new PHC for Davorlim and Rumdamol villages”, he said.
