MARGAO
Salgaocar Football Club kicked off the 10th edition of its Community Outreach Programme on Sunday, at Chicalim Panchayat Ground.
The event drew a significant crowd, with over 550 attendees, reflecting the programme's importance to the local community. Notable figures present included President Shivanand Salgaonkar, Vice President Swati Salgaonkar, Head of Development Sanjeev Nagvenkar, and GFA Executive Committee Member Francisco Nunes.
During the event, the club honoured 10 of its legends for their contributions to Salgaocar FC. The honorees included: Bruno Coutinho, Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Sanjiv Nagvenkar, Lector Mascarenhas, Marian Dias, Ignatius Dias, Derrick Pereira, Avertano Furtado, Nelson Landez, Bento Endro (Andrew). Each legend received a memento as a token of appreciation for their dedication to the club.
In his address, President Shivanand Salgaonkar expressed gratitude to the parents for supporting their children’s involvement in football. Vice President Swati Salgaonkar emphasized the club's ongoing commitment to youth development and community outreach, stating, "Although we have withdrawn from the I-League and Goa Pro, our focus on nurturing young talent will continue."
The programme will feature a team of 40 coaches and 20 volunteers, who will work together until March, conducting activities that include fun warm-ups, skill techniques, tactical training, small-sided games, and cooldown exercises.
