The Canacona Sports & Cultural Club, the cultural wing of Canacona Cultural Academy will organise Deepotsav-2025 on Friday at Gaitonde Mini-Sports complex, Chaudi.
The Deepotsav-2025, which is being organised in association with Canacona Patrakar Sangh, Canacona Kalakar Sangh, Lions Club of Canacona & Canacona Tourism Council, is part of Deepawali celebrations to showcase Canacona’s rich cultural and festival traditions.
‘The intention and motto behind the event is to bring up the hidden talent of Canacona and give them a platform to perform. We expect a crowd of more than 3,000, of which 1,000 will be participants and over 2,000 spectators,” stated organising committee chairman Janardhan Bhandari at a news conference on Wednesday.
Addressing further, Bhandari informed that the event is organised under the aegis of Art & Culture Department and Goa Tourism Department, and will consist of competitions such as Kite Flying, Akash Kandil, Panatee Sajawat, Sweet Dish (Poha), Reels Making and Presentation (on Tourist spot from Canacona), Fancy Dress competition for 8 years and above 8 years.
The Deepotsav-2025 will have local group presentation of Dindi Presentation by Vitthal Rakhumai group (Saleri“Agonda), Dhol-Tasha Presentation by Shiv Jayanti Mahotsav Samiti (Poinguinim), Lezim Presentation by Shradhanand Vidyalaya (Poinguinim), Diwali Dance Presentation by Shashwat Group (Poinguinim) & Kala Mogi Khotigaokar, Ghumat-Aarati Presentation by S. S. Angle Hr. Sec. School (Mashem) Group, Garba & Dandiya Presentation by Shri Bhumipurush Dance group (Palolem).
The organisers informed that the event is fully supported by Minister for Art & Culture and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, ZP members from Khola and Poinguinim, Canacona Municipal Council, and all the seven panchayats from Canacona taluka, besides other organisations like Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals, Taxi Owners Association, Shack owners association amongst others.
The concluding ceremony will take place at 9.30 pm in the presence of Tawadkar, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, Quepem MLA Altone Fernandes, former dy chief minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, former minister Isidore Fernandes, ex-MLA Vijay Pai Khot, ZP Members Shanu Velip (Khola) and Shobhana Velip (Poinguinim), CMC Chairperson Laxuman Pagui, sarpanchas of all the seven panchayats, councillors and all the panch members of all the panchayats in Canacona.
