The Salcete Truck Owners Association on Thursday demanded that the government should start full-fledged mining activities in the State so that all the truck owners get the opportunity to do the business.
Addressing the media, Association president Franky Gomes pointed out that the government should not open only eight mines, but resume full-fledged mining activities for the benefit of the stakeholders.
He pointed out that truck owners from across the State do not get the trips in the mining areas though they pay the road tax and other taxes to the government.
“This is happening because mining activities take place only at a few mines and the local truck owners do not allow outside truck owners to do business,” he said.
