Demands for upgradation of Canacona health centre

Memorandums pertaining to upgradation of the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) and various other issues in Canacona were submitted to South Goa MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday.

In its memorandum, the Canacona Congress demanded upgradation of CHC to a Canacona Taluka Hospital, 24x7 availability of X-Ray facility, availability of a Gynaecologist particularly at night, functioning of operation theatre, bullet ambulance facility to reach the areas not accessible by a normal ambulance, child specialist (Paediatric) on daily basis, a dedicated children’s ward, an operational ultrasound machinery, upgradation and re-location of dialysis unit on the ground floor, renovation of health staff /doctors quarters, and most importantly, upgrading Canacona CHC to a full-fledged hospital.

Capt. Viriato is learnt to have promised to visit Canacona and look into the various demands and take up with the government for implementation.

Thereafter, the Canacona Congress team consisting of District (South) Congress General Secretary (Org) Gaspar Coutinho Plausa Cardozo (Jawahar Bal Manch Co-ordinator for Canacona), submitted another memorandum to the Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on various issues faced by people in Canacona and requested him to raise those issues in the Goa Assembly during this assembly session.

Some issues raised by Canacona Congress included insufficient parking facilities for the tourists visiting Canacona beaches, Soulabh Souchalayas on all Canacona beaches, improved access for locals residing across the coastline to go to beaches, imposition of fines on visiting tourists by Traffic Police, non-commissioning of Gaunem Dam, appointment of regular teaching faculty, transport facility at Govt Higher Secondary School, and upgradation of medical facilities at the Canacona CHC.

Alemao is learnt to have assured to raise these questions in the Goa Assembly for the betterment of Canacona.
