A month after he was elected to the Lok Sabha from South Goa, Congress MP Captain Viriato Fernadnes has embarked on a program to interact with Congress Party Block members and workers of South Goa district.
The first such meeting was held on Wednesday, beginning with a meeting of party members and workers from Margao Constituency, wherein the Captain gave a call to the people of Margao to stand united to send the most untrustworthy MLA of Goa, Digamat Kamat home.
Over 50 party workers led by Savio Coutinho interacted with Captain Viriato Fernandes and discussed various issues including the building up of the organisation in Margao. Captain Viriato congratulated Coutinho and his team for proving to be the most vocal and vibrant block in the entire state of Goa and hoped that they continue with the good work in future as well.
Captain Viriato Fernandes stated that Margao Constituency has become a matter of prestige for the party, and hence have decided to start a series of meetings with Margao block. “Following the treacherous betrayal of the MLA who benefited the most from the Congress party, the party shall leave no stone unturned to ensure the defeat of Margao MLA Digamber Kamat in 2027”, Captain told the party workers.
The Captain further said that the minuscule lead the Margao MLA got for the BJP was indeed a huge lead for the Congress party considering the tall claims Kamat was making.
South District President Savio D'silva said that very soon the blocks of all the frontal organisations will be put in place, which will help the party to have a robust force to take on the defector MLA in Margao.
Congress leader Savio Coutinho thanked Captain Viriato Fernandes for the honour of choosing to meet the workers of Margao first. “This will surely send a strong message to all the constituents of Margao as to how serious the party is with respect to dethroning the defector MLA from Margao, he said. Mr. Coutinho appealed to the MP to reserve a sizable share of MPLAD funds for projects in Margao”, Coutinho added.
