Demands panel to study Hospicio situation

Questioning the step motherly treatment to Hospicio by the BJP-led government, Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday demanded to know why the government has not appointed any panel to study the affairs of the hospital.Addressing the media,

MARGAO:

Vijai said Hospicio was neglected and it is only in the fitness of things that the Health Minister Francis D Souza appoints a one-man panel to study the situation at the hospital. “The question is why there is no such panel for Hospicio when it is in a neglected state. Or is it that the step motherly treatment continues for Salcete on grounds that the ruling party has no chance in the taluka?” Vijai questioned. He said the mortuary situation at Hospicio is turning from bad to worse with dead bodies often transported to the GMC, Bambolim, for want of space at Margao. He also made a strong case for connecting the Mungul ward of Fatorda to the Margao sewerage plant. “Mungul is one area in Fatorda which is not connected to the sewerage network. There may be other areas which are left out in the scheme of things,” he said, while demanding that the government take up the matter on priority basis.Vijai demanded the shifting of the Fatorda post office to the PWD quarters at Fatorda from the existing premises.
