“This government has killed the common man. Demonetisation of currency is the last blow to the man on the streets, who’s burdened with rising cost, widespread corruption and unfulfilled promises,” said Trajano D’Mello, general secretary of Congress.
D’Mello was speaking at an event organised by the Mapusa Block Congress, youth Congress, NSUI and Seva Dal to distribute Congress chargesheet against the BJP-led government and against the failure of the Mapusa MLA.
Speaking further, D'Mello said those who hoard black money have done so in other forms like investing in gold, real estate and other investments.
“Does this government expect the common man to stand in queue to exchange notes or to earn for their livelihood?” he asked.
He further said BJP men were informed well in advance about the demonetisation plan and news in a leading national paper had exposed BJP’s sham where West Bengal BJP transferred huge sums of money to the party funds one day before the PM’s demonetisation plan.
Congress, Vice President, Bhabi Bhagkar lambasted the BJP-led government for its failure to fulfill promises made to the people of Goa in the last election.
“This government’s days are numbered and the people of Goa will teach them a lesson in the ensuing elections,” he said.
He also said BJP were aware they were not in a position to win in all the four states and therefore came out with the demonetisation ploy to frustrate the people.
North Goa District Congress, chief, Amarnath Panjikar said BJP-led government has cheated the youth and did a u-turn on many of its promises made to Goans.
“BJP promised 50,000 jobs and Rs 3,000 unemployment dole to the youth which were conveniently forgotten,” Panjikar said.
He said the government failed to honour its promises on MoI, Regional Plan, spiraling inflation and other issues.

Mapusa MLA promoted family raj: Bhike
THE GOAN NETWORK
MAPUSA
Charging Deputy Chief Minister and Mapusa MLA, Francis D’Souza of promoting family raj, the Congress chargesheet against the local MLA said the delimitation of Mapusa Municipal Council wards was done in a way to ensure that his son was easily elected in the civic elections.
“As Urban Minister, D’Souza ensured manipulation of delimitation of wards in Mapusa to give the minister’s son a readymade ladder to climb on the MLA’s seat after his exit,” said Vijay Bhike, President, Mapusa Block Congress.
“This is clear family raj where father has utilised his power to establish his son in Mapusa politics,” he added.
Releasing a parallel chargesheet against the local MLA, Bhike said the Mapusa legislator failed to bring any development worth its salt in Mapusa and only took credit for projects initiated by the Congress-led government.
“The state of roads in Mapusa is horrible while no steps have been taken to improve parking facility in town,” he said.
Despite holding the charge of four departments, the deputy minister has failed to provide employment to the youth of Mapusa, he added.
The deputy minister who is also the revenue minister failed to control corruption in offices of mamlatdar and deputy collector, the chargesheet read.
The chargesheet further castigates the Mapusa MLA for supporting illegal constructions and promoting illegalities for vote bank politics.
