Following the rising number of dengue cases at Cutbona jetty, Margao Deputy Collector Ganesh Barve convened a meeting with officials and stakeholders. The meeting, also attended by Velim MLA Cruz Silva, aimed to address the escalating health crisis and outline proper action steps to prevent the spread of the disease.
The discussion began with an overview of the current dengue situation. The team reviewed ongoing control measures and identified high-risk areas within the jetty premises.
Key focus areas included enhancing coordination between depts. to bolster response efforts, plan and implement additional preventive measures, and ramp up public awareness and education strategies.
The outbreak has intensified anxiety among local residents as six persons, mainly migrants working on mechanised fishing vessels, tested positive for dengue and were receiving treatment at the Balli PHC.
