Dengue has raised its ugly head in the remote village of Morpilla with the Balli Primary health team detecting around 30 suspected cases since March this year.
In fact, with the health authorities detecting another 4-5 fresh suspected cases, the PHC has started an intensive drive in Morpilla village with teams carrying out fogging operations in the affected areas.
Balli Primary Health Officer, Dr Mamata Kakodkar told the media that dengue has indeed raised its ugly head in Morpilla, but hastened to add that the situation is well under control.
Saying that there’s no outbreak of dengue in the village, the Health Officer said the 30 cases detected so far are suspected cases, following which the health teams have undertaken an intensive drive in the village.
“We have found breeding in vessels storing potable water. In Morpilla, locals store water in barrels since there is a water shortage. We have advised the people to ensure that they change the water at least once a week to ensure that the vessels do not offer a breeding place for the dengue mosquito”, she said, adding that the residents have been advised to cover the water vessels with a lid or with a cloth.
