Denied access to public facilities, Carmona locals to approach PMO

MARGAO

Former Carmona Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge on Tuesday said that the villagers of Carmona, who have no access to the recreational facilities including children's play rides, walking track, community toilets etc by the Chinchinim PHC, have decided to approach the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) seeking justice.

He said it’s very unfortunate that Chinchinim PHC, which has been allowed to use two rooms in the building, is acting like owners of the entire premises by depriving the villagers of the use of the facility apart from directions from even the Zilla Panchayat Office who have used Zilla funds for public purpose to keep the facility open for the children of the locality.

“Children who used to use the play rides in the evening, senior citizens who used the walking track in the early morning and the evenings and also the children who used to play badminton are left stranded outside the facility as the facility is “illegally” locked by Chinchinim PHC without any authorisation by the owners, the Education Department, due to false allegations of damage made against the villagers by Chinchinim PHC”, he said.

“We have filed an RTI with Chinchinim PHC to show details of damages caused to their building by the local villagers as alleged by Chinchinim PHC. Approaching the PMO will be our last legal resort after which we will be left with no option but to approach the judiciary for justice”, Jorge said.

The former sarpanch said when all legal options are exhausted by the citizens, the doors of the judiciary will be knocked and will drag Chinchinim PHC to court over the issue.

“The Health Department has also painted the entire property without taking any permissions from the owners -- Education Department -- in their own trademark blue colour giving an impression that the entire property belongs to the Health Centre”, he added.
