Desecrations rock Salcete again

the goan I networkrMARGAOrThere’s no let up in the desecration of religious symbols in Salcete taluka, with as many as two Crosses and the statue of Nandi and Tulsi Vrundavan at Lord Krishna Temple, vandalised by unknown miscreants last night. rWhile a Cross each was desecrated at Ralloi Tollem in Curtorim and near Aquem Power House, miscreants desecrated the statue of Nandi, besides the Tulsi Vrundavan at the Krishna Temple at Calconda-Margao. rThree separate complaints have been lodged at the Margao and Maina Curtorim police stations by concerned persons from Curtorim, Davorlim and Calcondem. rIn his complaint, Pravin Virdikar stated that unknown culprits desecrated the Nandi statue and Tulsi Vrundavan at the Lord Krishna Temple last night. He has demanded that the police bring the culprits to book. “We do not suspect anyone behind the shocking incident. But, we request the police to make efforts to bring the culprits to book”, Pravin told the media. rFormer Margao Municipal Chairperson, Savio Coutinho demanded that the police act fast and put an end to the desecration incidents at the earliest. “Goans are known for their communal amity, peace and brotherhood. However, such incidents only create misunderstandings amongst the communities. This should be nipped in the bud”, Coutinho said.
