VALPOI
People from Sattari taluka have blamed State authorities for not responding to their continuous pleas to resolve the ever-growing traffic congestion in Valpoi town.
They maintain that the traffic congestion problem has become more acute in the last couple of years. Given the fact that the town is considered to be a major hub on account of housing of various government departments, educational institutions, the authorities need to work a proper traffic plan, they said.
The traffic congestion is at its peak during school hours in the morning and afternoon. Repeated demands to the transport department to alleviate the traffic woes during these hours have fallen on deaf ears.
A traffic plan was finalised and sent for approval by VMC to the authorities, but there has been no response. Even Valpoi MLA and Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane had requested authorities concerned to notify the plan as early as possible.
Concerned parents maintain that the traffic congestion in many areas is like a death trap for school children during peak hours.
When questioned, Chief Officer VMC Cynthia Misquita said that the traffic plan has been sent for the approval of the authorities concerned, but till date there is no response.
Traffic congestion is an daily headache for the people of valpoi.
