PANAJI

Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, on Tuesday morning after he felt chest pain. He was discharged later the same day following some precautionary tests.

A statement from the department’s Public Relations Officer Rahul Gupta confirmed the news. “This morning, DGP Goa was admitted to GMC Bambolim for a minor health issue. A few precautionary tests were run by doctors and he is likely to be discharged soon,” the statement said.

Officials said the DGP had returned from Delhi on Monday evening. He reportedly felt unwell, which led him to visit the hospital. His condition remained stable throughout.

A meeting planned for Tuesday between Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Chief Secretary V Candavelou, and the DGP has been postponed. Sources said the meeting was to review the overall law and order situation, disaster management, and other issues.
