Ahead of the formal inauguration of one-side of the New Zuari Bridge, DGP Jaspal Singh on Friday conducted a joint inspection of the bridge and various issues regarding the proposed two-way traffic movement on it were discussed at length and necessary directions were given to the police and DBL officials.
Those present at the inspection included DySP Traffic South Prabodh Shirvoiker and Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh, Vasco Traffic Cell PI Shailesh Narvekar and Verna PI Diago Gracias.
A source said the police officials checked all areas along the entire stretch and various suggestions like placing signboards indicating speed limits and direction boards for the safety of motorists were offered.
“We checked all the entry and exit points and also inspected some diversion points to assess traffic movement on the bridge. We also discussed on having all informatory, direction and cautionary signboards on the new bridge. The DGP also gave various directions to the police and DBL officials after the inspection,” said the source.
