After Pernem police foiled an attempt to stage a dhirio at Korgao on June 3 and 4, bullfight lovers managed to hoodwink the police and organise a dhirio on Tuesday.
According to reports, spectators from Goa and Sindudhurg-Maharashtra had thronged Korgao to witness clashes between bulls from Goa and Maharashtra.
The narrow roads had led to huge traffic jams in the village. A bull from Salcette won, while a bull from Kudal-Maharshtra was the runner-up. Sources said the bull from Kudal was injured in the fight.
The bullfight went viral on social media, prompting angry reactions among animal lovers, with many criticising the police force for their failure to prevent the dhirio.
