While Congress nominee Digambar Kamat filed his papers along with wife Asha Kamat before Returning Officer Uday Prabhudesai in his bid to playing his sixth consecutive innings, BJP candidate Sharmad Raiturkar sought Lord Dambab’s blessings at the Pimpalkatta in the morning.
After filing his nomination papers, Digambar told the media that he exuded confidence that Madgavkars will repose faith in him yet again to represent them in the Assembly. Referring to the incomplete South Goa district hospital building, Kamat demanded to know from the BJP whether the ruling party executed any major project in the city during the last five years. “The district hospital building is a testimony that Margao was neglected by the BJP government.”
On the other hand, Sharmad pointed accusing fingers at the Margao MLA, blaming him for all the ills plaguing the city. “Kamat had been representing the city since the last 22 years. He was also the State’s Chief Minister, but the problems facing the city remains unresolved till date,” he charged.
Sharmad said he has no doubt that Madgavkars are seeking a political change in the ensuing election, adding that the time factor or the delay in shortlisting the party candidate will not come in the way of winning the seat. “Margao will be one of the 26 constituencies which will elect a BJP MLA this time round,”
he added.
