Digambar sets target of 50,000 votes lead for party in Salcete

MARGAO

With just five days to go for the crucial April 23 poll for the South Goa seat, the Congress is banking on some of its strongholds in Salcete to give a huge lead for party candidate Francisco Sardinha to regain the seat from the BJP.

In fact, Congress Chief campaign manager Digambar Kamat has set a target of 50,000 votes lead for the Congress in the eight Assembly constituencies of Salcete to keep the BJP at bay. And, he exuded confidence that the target can be achieved without any problem with all the party MLAs and leaders working unitedly on the ground.

Saying that the mood of the people is for a change in the government at the Centre, Kamat said that the Congress would get a huge lead this time round. “I have addressed meetings of Francisco Sardinha at Nuvem, Velim, Curtorim and Cuncolim and I have a feeling that the people are all ready to bring the Congress back to power. If each of the Assembly segments of Curtorim, Velim and Nuvem give the Congress candidate a lead of 12,000, I do not see any reason why the Congress cannot achieve the target of 50,000 votes lead in Salcete itself,” Digambar said.
