UNSAFE COMMUTE: The main Angod road, scarred with potholes, causes major inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians alike.

A 200-metre stretch of one of Mapusa’s busiest roads has turned into a pothole-ridden mess, causing traffic snarls and raising safety concerns for commuters.
The issue was highlighted on Monday evening by members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who visited the site under their ongoing #BJPCheBurak campaign.
AAP Goa Youth Wing Vice President Salman Khan, who led the delegation, said the road’s poor condition was a glaring example of civic neglect in a town that serves as a key commercial hub of North Goa.
“This stretch in Angod is not only damaging vehicles but has also become a safety hazard for thousands of commuters who use it daily,” Khan said.
Residents and motorists echoed similar concerns, pointing out that the road had deteriorated due to the failure of authorities to repair it after completing the laying of underground utility services.
“What we see every time is patchwork that barely lasts,” a shopkeeper near the affected stretch remarked.
According to AAP leaders, the situation reflects broader issues of accountability in road maintenance.
“Goans are not asking for luxuries, just safe, motorable roads. But under the present government, potholes have become a common sight,” Khan alleged.
The party has vowed to continue raising civic issues under its campaign, even as citizens await long-term solutions. Meanwhile, commuters say the Mapusa stretch requires urgent attention before further accidents occur.
