The Panaji police on Friday have, for the second time, recorded the statement of Deepak Satardekar, the official of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) in connection with the FIR registered against CCP councillor Uday Madkaikar and one Geeta Madkaikar for allegedly forging an occupancy certificate.

Police have already taken the register of occupancy certificates and other related documents from the office of the CCP. The FIR, in this case, was registered following a complaint lodged by CCP commissioner Ajit Roy.

Geeta Madkaikar and her power of attorney Uday Madkaikar, both residents of Bhatlem-Panaji, and others allegedly obtained the occupancy certificate for the third floor of a residential building in Bhatlem by forging the signature of the then commissioner of CCP Melvyn Vaz in January 2012.

The FIR was registered under IPC sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).

Police sub-Inspector Kishore Ramanan is investigating the case.
