Dr Prabhakar Kore handing over the Ford Saloon car keys to Brig Mukherjee. Louis Rodrigues
In a gesture blending history and heritage, KLE Society’s Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore has donated his treasured 1934 Ford Saloon car to the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi.
The vintage car, known for its elegant design and impressive engineering, remains in working condition despite being over nine decades old. Dr Kore had preserved it as a token of love and in memory of his late father.
The formal handover took place recently, with MLIRC Commandant Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee accepting the car. “This rare Ford Saloon is an invaluable addition to our regimental centre’s history. It will now become part of the MLIRC museum and stand as a lasting symbol of Dr Kore’s memory,” Brig Mukherjee said.
Deputy Commandant Colonel V.K.B. Patil and personnel of the Maratha Light Infantry were present during the ceremony.
