The gram sabha of Dramapur village Panchayat on Sunday has vehemently objected to the petrol pump proposed in a low-lying area near Digaum Bandh.
The meeting also opposed 100 per cent FAR for housing projects, with members insisting that no housing project should have more than 60 per cent FAR.
The proposed petrol pump figured prominently at the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Avita Pereira, when members strongly objected to the project in the low-lying area near the Digaum bandh. Members pointed out that the area where the petrol pump is proposed is a low-lying and water catchment area.
The member demanded that Velim MLA Cruz Silva, who attended the gram sabha, to take up the issue with the South Goa district Collector and other authorities and stop the petrol pump from coming up at the location.
The Velim MLA later told the media that he would write a letter to the South Goa Collector on Monday demanding to know whether the petrol pump proposal has been given approval and the location of the pump. “Local people have strongly objected to petrol pump at the low-lying area and water catchment area. I will stand by the people of Dramapur-Sirlim to oppose the project,” he added.
Meanwhile, gram sabha member Dominick Noronha raised the issue of two buildings which have come up in the village with 100 per cent FAR. He and other gram sabha members demanded that the housing projects in the village should be capped with 60 per cent FAR.
