A young struggling model has accused a businessman of drugging, raping and blackmailing her during their visit to Goa last year. The 20-year-old and the accused hail from Gujarat while the incident occurred in Calangute during their ‘business trip’ to the coastal State in December 2021.
The model approached the Goa Police in person on Tuesday narrating her ordeal after which the Women police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the man and his accomplices on Wednesday. A team is expected to leave for Bhuj, Gujarat to take custody of the accused following approval from Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh.
The Goan has reliably learnt that apart from the hotelier, the survivor has named four others who took turns to rape her in Goa as well as her home State. “During a photo shoot in Bhuj, the accused hotelier made his first move to build a friendship with her. They exchanged their contact numbers after a short conversation during which he revealed his plan to set up ‘spas’ in Goa. After a few months in December 2021, he invited her to Calangute to strike a business deal, and she agreed,” sources said quoting her detailed complaint copy.
The accused, however, had some other plans. According to the complainant, she flew to Goa on a SpiceJet ticket booked by the accused while he travelled by road. They checked into a Calangute hotel from where they moved to different places for work and sightseeing. “He then offered her a glass of beer which she refused. She preferred fruit juice which was perhaps spiked, because when the victim woke up she found herself without clothes and in unbearable pain,” police sources stated.
The model claimed that on confronting her accused, he threatened her with making her obscene videos viral as he filmed her in an objectionable position. Taking advantage of her situation, she was once again called to Goa where she was sexually assaulted by four others. The accused, who owns a hotel village resort and spa in Gandhidham, is being tracked down. The women police are attempting to retrieve the CCTV footage of the hotel and the restaurants they visited in Goa.
