Drugs probe: Steve lands in Hyderabad, questioning begins

PANAJI

The owner of Hill Top Goa Stephen John Stephen D’Souza (Steve) is undergoing a second round of questioning in Hyderabad (Telangana) in connection with the inter-State drug trafficking busted last month.

Steve was flown to Hyderabad late Thursday night, shortly after the Mapusa Court granted two days transit remand.

“Steve was taken for a medical examination in a government hospital soon after his arrival. He has been declared fit for custody. We will formally arrest him on Saturday and produce him before the local court for remand,” a senior officer told The Goan which was the first to report about Hyderabad police’s swift action to ensure Steve’s custody.

Steve was arrested on September 21 while the hunt for several others is underway. Borkar had confessed about a dozen names to the Osmania University police and Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing, who are actively operating the drug network within and outside Goa. The Hyderabad police, with the assistance of Goa Police, began a crackdown thereafter. The team is expected to return to look out for the remaining accused including Edwin Nunes of Curlies shack.
