Drunken driving is like a bomb waiting to burst, says transport minister

PANAJI

Appealing the public not to drive vehicles when they are drunk, Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho informed that drunken driving is like a bomb waiting to burst.
“I appeal to the public not to drive vehicles if they are drunk. If somebody drives while drunk, it is like a bomb waiting to burst. He can hit anybody and this should not happen. If there are four or six people, one should resist from drinking like they do abroad,” Godinho stated.
“Otherwise, they should hire a taxi and go home, and such a practice should start in Goa. As having a party and drinking heavily, and then coming on the roads endangers not only their lives but that of others as well,” the minister added.
Godinho further assured that there will be continuous drive on drunken driving and tinted glasses, while also assuring that the new fines will be strictly implemented after the rains subside.
“After August 15, will review the whole thing and action will be initiated,” he added while stating that he is working out on detaining the vehicles as well.
