The 7th Monthly Meeting of the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) has issued instructions to the Panchayat Secretaries to conduct the requisite Gram Sabha meetings and upload the required information on the Central Government portal within the stipulated timeline.
At the meeting chaired by South Goa Additional Collector-II Ramesh Gaonkar, held in the presence of Shri Narayan S. Tirvenkar, Member Secretary, DWSM, instructions were also issued to the Department of Drinking Water (DDW) to expedite the geo-tagging process.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Health Department, Forest Department, Information Technology Department, Directorate of Panchayats, Block Development Offices (BDOs), Water Resources Department (WRD) and Agriculture Department. The progress of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) 2.0 was reviewed, wherein the Directorate of Panchayats informed that certain land-related and local public issues at some locations are being resolved in coordination with the concerned Village Panchayats, to facilitate timely completion of pending works.
The progress of Field Test Kit training for two women members for the constitution of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) was also reviewed. It was informed that the training has commenced across the district. The Committee further noted that village-wise data from the Directorate of Panchayats is yet to be received. All concerned officials were directed to ensure timely compliance with the directions issued and expedite the completion of pending activities under the respective programmes, with emphasis on coordinated action and adherence to stipulated timelines.
