Dy Collector holds meet to control dengue cases in Ponda taluka

PONDA

Taking note of a rise in dengue cases in Ponda last month, Deputy Collector Suyash Sinai Khandeparkar convened a meeting and directed all officials to cooperate with health officers in efforts to curb dengue cases.

Panch members of various panchayats in the taluka have also been directed to keep vigil in their respective jurisdictions.

In August, 44 dengue cases were recorded at the various government health centres in Ponda taluka.

There were 19 dengue cases registered at the Madkai Primary Health Centre, followed by the Betki-Khandola Primary Health Centre with15 cases, Ponda Health Centre with 7 cases and Shiroda Primary Health Centre with 3 cases.

The primary health centres have fumigated the affected area and have also launched awareness campaigns.

The meeting was attended by Roland Martins (Convenor of GOACAN), Dr Smita Parsekar (health officer at Ponda Primary Health Centre) and others.

Khandeparkar stated that the Water Resources Department would be directed to register all wells in the taluka.

He also said that the IDC (Industrial Development Corporation) should submit information of all workers in the industrial areas to the nearby health centres.

Roland Martins pointed out that the primary health centres and their officers should also get the cooperation from local panchayats and the municipal council in Ponda taluka.

“The panch members should work to ensure that the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival should be dengue-free,” appealed Martins.
