The Mission Seminary at Pilar joined together with the universal Christian community to pray for Christian Unity during a week of prayer, with members of different churches gathering together on January 23.
Among those present at the prayer meet on the theme “They Showed Us Unusual Kindness” were members of the Rupantaran Church, Syrian Orthodox Church, Methodist Church, Mar Thoma Church along with the seminarians from Pilar.
Fr Peter Melo Fernandes, sfx, Rector, welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme, while Reverend Zecariah Ramban, Jitu Josh, Reverend David Livingstone and Fr Victor Rebello sfx shared their reflections on various aspects of the theme. The reflections highlighted the importance of the need for “unusual kindness” in the dialogue that leads to growth in unity.
The speakers felt that while separation and division hinder the quest for unity in today’s society, there is a universal call to Christians to show unusual kindness towards one another without having fear. The prayer service was followed by an Agape meal and a short cultural programme.
