Ecumenical prayer service organised
PANAJI: Every year from January 18 to 25, the Catholic Church celebrates the octave of prayer for Christian unity, with the aim to pray for unity among the churches by overcoming all divisions.
To pray for unity among Christians, Pilar Seminary organized an Ecumenical prayer service on January 25, with the theme 'Reconciliation - the Love of Christ Compels Us.'
About 70 members of Mar Thoma Church (Margao and Ponda), Methodist Church (Panaji) and Catholic Church (Pilar) participated in the prayer meeting.
Dr Norman Almeida, Rector of the seminary welcomed saying,"Our presence this evening is an expression of the life and light of the risen Lord and let us support the unity of the churches.”
Sunil George Matthew, Mar Thoma Church, emphasized saying, “Unless we are integrated we cannot preach unity.”
Aural Shatananda, Methodist Church said, “Love is not conditional, but an aspect of self-denial.”
Fr Lino Florindo, Roman Catholic Church said, “The Lord desires we radically change our attitude towards other Christians and we need to highlight what unites us rather than what divides us.”
