PANAJI

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Goa has expanded its investigation into the multi-crore investment scam by seizing properties valued at Rs 2.98 crore. The seized assets include properties located in Fatorda, Nuvem and Mumbai, owned by absconding accused Myron Fernandes and his wife Deepali Parab. Moreover, fixed deposits worth Rs 37 lakh in the name of Deepali Naik have also been seized.

According to details accessed by The Goan, the confiscated assets include a row villa in Fatorda valued at Rs 21.90 lakh, a flat in Mumbai priced at about Rs 1.44 crore and a villa in Nuvem worth Rs 95.20 lakh. The cumulative value of the seized properties and fixed deposits stands at Rs 2,98,37,840.

The ED recently took charge of the investigation into the investment scam after launching separate probes into money laundering linked to jobs-for-cash and land fraud cases.

The Crime Branch is currently investigating the fraud after taking over the case initially registered by the Economic Offences Cell (EOC). The scam, valued at over Rs 100 crore, allegedly involves prime accused Myron, his wife Deepali Parab, ex-wife Sunita, and other accomplices.

Myron and Deepali are accused of masterminding the fraud by luring investors with promises of high returns from the stock market and then misappropriating the funds for personal expenses. All these accused are currently absconding while Myron is believed to be hiding in London.
