PORVORIM: Stating that education plays a key role for everyone throughout their life, Dy Director of Education (North Zone) Bhagirath Shetye said individuals can develop their personality and face challenges in life.
“The state government spends a lot of money in the education sector, so that the Goa becomes a 100% literate state. Students should benefit from various government schemes and pursue higher education,” Shetye said.
He was speaking as chief guest at the annual social gathering of the V M Parulekar Higher Secondary school, Verem.
Shetye also advised parents to spare some time with their children to understand their needs and problems. “They should not impose their wishes on their children, but allow them the freedom to choose the career of their choice,” said Shetye.
Guest of honour Siddhesh Raikar and former principal Umakant Salkar also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Principal of V M Parulekar Higher Secondary school Prashant Naik welcomed the gathering and read out the annual report of the school. Meritorious students were felicitated by Shetye on the occasion.
