Education is key to success: Dr Sawant

PORVORIM
Stating that education is the key to success, Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant said every student should work hard to secure good marks in studies for ascending to a higher economic and social status in life.
He was speaking at the function organized by Akhil Gomantak Kshastriya Maratha Samaj at Porvorim to felicitate the students who excelled in the examinations of Goa Board and Goa University.
"They should not give up their efforts till they achieve their goal. Most of the students get confused while choosing the career after passing the SSC examination. Hence, the Akhil Gomantak Kshastriya Maratha Samaj should start a career guidance cell for such students to enable them to choose the right career," said Dr Sawant.
"The Samaj should also keep a record of the students who are taking admissions to the professional courses, which will help Samaj to take necessary decisions in future," he said. Former chief minister and Congress MLA Pratapsing Rane said the Samaj cannot progress unless they are united.
"All the members of the Samaj should get united and work together for the progress of the Samaj. There are very groups of Maratha Samaj like Akhil Gomantak Kshastriya Maratha Samaj, Akhil Gomantak Kharvi Maratha Samaj, etc. All these different groups should get together and form one group like Akhil Gomantak Maratha Samaj which will increase the strength of the Samaj and make it more stronger," said Rane.
Former MLAs Subhash Faldessai and Naresh Sawal also spoke on the occasion.
In his welcome address, the Akhil Gomantak Kshastriya Maratha Samaj president Mahesh Gaonkar said the hall of the Samaj which is under construction at Porvorim would be ready within two years.
The secretary of the Samaj Sripad Parab read the report of the activities of the Samaj.
