Expecting the political party workers, supporters and enthusiasts to throng the area around the two counting centres, the State administration has stepped up precautionary security and traffic arrangements at the Government Polytechnic Complex at Altinho-Panaji in North Goa and the Multipurpose Complex at Borda-Margao in South Goa.
South Goa Collector Ajit Roy, IAS, has ordered temporary road closure, diversion, parking and no-parking on May 23 and 24, 2019, from 5 am until counting ends to ensure smooth conduct of the process and to avoid any traffic congestion.
Only the vehicles of the observer, District Magistrate and District Election Officer will be parked on the internal adjacent road from Bordeshwar Rakhandev towards Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda and on parking lot of ITI, Borda. This road will be closed for all other vehicular traffic, except those of local residents.
The vehicles of Assistant Returning Officers, police, government vehicles and government staff vehicles will be parked on the open ground behind the Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda, and the entry will be from main entrance gate towards the ground.
No vehicles will be allowed to be parked on the open ground in front of Multipurpose High School.
Other vehicles of the candidates and supporters will be parked on the road shoulders of the Eastern Bypass road.
The entire stretch of road from Eurico Silva’s House, Borda, to Agali Junction, Gogol, near St Sebastian Chapel will be closed for vehicular traffic, except for vehicles related to election duties and those of candidates.
Other vehicles will be diverted via Ravindra Bhavan, Fatorda, Arlem, Eastern Bypass, Gogol Circle and vice-versa and only emergency vehicles and those of local residents will be allowed.
In North, Collector R Menaka has notified temporary no-parking on either side of the road proceeding from St Inez junction to the Government Polytechnic, Altinho.
