South Goa Comunidade Administrator Mangaldas Gaonkar has announced the election dates for all six Comunidade bodies in Canacona taluka.
The Canacona Comunidade, one of the most important and highly contested Comunidade institutions, which owns large tracts of land in the taluka, will elect its new body. This Comunidade has the largest number of eligible voters, with 492 members.
The election for the Nagarcem-Palolem Comunidade will be held on December 15 at 10 am at the Sri Nirakar Devalaya auditorium in Bhagatwada. This Comunidade has 435 members.
The Poinguinim Comunidade, with 130 members, will hold its election on December 22 at 10 am in Poinguinim.
The Loliem-Polem Comunidade, with 127 eligible voters, will hold its election on December 29 at 10 am in Loliem village.
The Khola Comunidade, with 70 members, will hold its election on January 5.
The Gaondongirim Comunidade, with 51 eligible voters, will hold its election on January 5 in Gaondongirim village.
The Canacona Comunidade, with 492 members, covers Agonda and Shristhal villages and holds vast lands, making it a highly sought-after body. Many members are eager to be elected to its committee.
