State BJP president Damu Naik on Tuesday said he would definitely contest the 2027 Assembly election from Fatorda if the party leadership assigns him the task.
“I will contest the upcoming election from Fatorda if my party tells me to descend into the battlefield. As the BJP state president, I have predicted that the party will win 30 seats. Fatorda will be among the 30 constituencies where the lotus will bloom in 2027,” he said.
Naik also blamed vested interests for creating a false narrative that he was eyeing the Chief Minister’s post if elected from Fatorda.
Saying he was ready to take on Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai, who has represented Fatorda since 2012, Naik challenged the incumbent MLA to a debate on the developmental projects undertaken in the constituency over the last 15 years.
The BJP state president also blamed Sardesai for the proliferation of high-rise buildings in Fatorda, alleging that several housing and commercial projects had been approved with a 300 per cent floor area ratio (FAR).
“Is the Fatorda MLA not a member of the South Goa Planning and Development Authority? Let him show whether he had opposed any of the housing and commercial projects at SGPDA meetings during his 15-year tenure as MLA,” Naik demanded.
