With the names of some 60-odd voters from Dona Paula, including two ex-councillors and the incumbent missing, the electoral roll notified for the upcoming CCP polls is being challenged on Monday.
Former CCP councillor Nelson Cabral said he will file a complaint on Monday and also challenge the electoral roll which the director of municipal administration has notified.
Cabral and his wife Prescila have served one term each as councillors of the CCP and find their names deleted from the rolls.
The name of the incumbent councillor Nazareth Cabral has also gone missing from the rolls.
Several councillors have also accused the State government of manipulating the delimitation and reservation of wards of the CCP as well as 11 other municipal councils slated to go to the polls in late March.
Cabral had on Friday last confronted the DMA Dr Tarique Thomas with the 'erroneous' exclusion of the 60-odd names from either of the two Dona Paula wards 1 and 2. The latter admitted it to be an "error" and assured rectification by issuing a corrigendum.
Cabral is a known political detractor of Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate and suspects foul play by officials in the Collectorate and revenue department under the control of Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate.
The State government has come under severe attack from political parties, including the members of the Pramod Sawant led cabinet as well as legislators of the ruling BJP ever since it notified earlier this week the wards reservation in eleven municipal councils and also the delimitation of wards in the CCP.
