CANACONA
A mock disaster-management drill was conducted at Palolem beach on Thursday morning, with around 10 patients brought to the Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
One patient rescued from drowning at Agonda was treated by medics. Two patients from Palolem and Talpona were brought in with smoke inhalation; one unconscious patient was admitted to the CHC, while the other was referred to SGDH, Margao.
Six patients from Palolem, suffering from giddiness, were stabilised at the CHC and shifted to a shelter home. Two patients rescued from drowning at Khola and Khotigao were also brought to the CHC. One was admitted, while the other was referred to SGDH.
Overall, three patients were referred to SGDH, two kept under observation at the CHC and five shifted to shelter homes.
Teams were deployed at all sites, the hospital and shelter homes.
