The citizen-led movement 'Enough is Enough', spearheaded by former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court Ferdino Rebello, inaugurated its permanent office in the capital on Tuesday, pledging to consolidate grassroots activism across Goa.
The inauguration was symbolic. Women protestors from Arambol, Chimbel, Siridao, and Mirabag cut the ribbon, representing communities at the forefront of recent local agitations. Their presence underscored the movement’s emphasis on collective action and community-led resistance.
Rebello, who has emerged as the face of the campaign, said the office would serve as a hub for coordination, awareness, and advocacy. “This is not about politics. It is about protecting Goa’s land, identity, and future,” he said.
The office is expected to host meetings, workshops, and strategy sessions for ongoing and future campaigns.
The Enough is Enough movement has grown rapidly since its launch earlier this year, with big public meetings in Margao and Panaji where citizens voiced anger over decades of unchecked land conversions, environmental degradation, and governance failures.
The slogan “Enough is Enough” -- or aṇik sonsuṁ nezo in Konkani -- has become a rallying cry across villages and towns.
Key concerns driving the movement include the loss of forests and rivers, erosion of Goan heritage, and frustration with State authorities accused of colluding with private interests.
Organisers say the Panaji office will provide a visible presence in the capital and help sustain momentum for campaigns against projects seen as anti-people.
By choosing women protestors to inaugurate the office, the movement highlighted the role of local communities in defending livelihoods and resisting development pressures. Activists believe the new space will strengthen coordination among disparate struggles and amplify citizen voices.
In just three months, Enough is Enough has transformed from scattered protests into a Statewide initiative and with its Panaji office, the movement hopes to play the role of a rallying point for Goans determined to protect their land, culture, and future generations.
