An environmental audit of the biogas plant installed at the SGPDA market, Margao had last year pointed out the plant was being operating sans the Consent to Operate from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
While concluding there’s a mismatch between the waste utilised in the plant, gas generated and consumed, and the electrical power generated, the audit party has insisted in its report that Consent to Operate needs to be obtained from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) for the operation of such a bio digester.
This may throw up a question or two for the Margao Municipal Council and the GSPCB why did things did not move in the direction of obtaining the consent to operate when the Audit party had submitted the report around 15 months ago, insisting on obtaining the consent to operate the plant from the GSPCB.
